Detailed Itineraries
Day 1: Upon
arrival, you will be met and greeted by our representative
and transferred to the
Sea Cliff Hotel,
bed and breakfast
Day 2: Breakfast
with the tour manager and a briefing on the itinerary.
Thereafter transfer to Selous to Game Reserve. Packed lunch
will be provided en-route. Afternoon Game drive and
overnight in lodge or camp, full board
Day 3: Start
the day with a morning Safari and continue with game drives.
Overnight at Selous Safari Camp, full board.
Day 4: Boat
safari in the morning and the after noon we will continue
with game drives. Overnight at lodge or camp, full board.
Selous Game
Reserve
covering 50,000sq
km, this is the largest game reserve in Africa. The reserve
supports an enormous number of elephants, buffalos and
wildebeests. Other rare species include the African Hunting
dog. The park provides home for some of the last remaining
black rhinos.
Day 5: Depart
in the morning after breakfast to Mikumi National Park.
The route between
Selous Game Reserve and Mikumi National is very scenic and
one of the best places to see African wild dogs hunt
especially in the morning. Upon arrival to Mikumi National
Park, transfer to Vuma Hills Tented Camp.
MIKUMI NATIONAL
PARK is flanked between the Uluguru and Udzungwa
Mountains. Mikumi National Park is home to buffalos,
giraffes, elephants, lions, zebras and leopards. The park is
also famous for its wild dogs and 6m long pythons. Sunrise
safari can be quite spectacular in Mikumi.
Day 6:
The RUAHA
NATIONAL PARK, Tanzania's 2nd biggest park and host to a
number of animals which rare or absent in the North. The
rare animals include the African Wild dog, roan and sable
antelope and the greater kudu. The Great Ruaha River, which
provides life to the park, flows through the eastern side of
the park and is home to hippos, crocodiles and a variety of
water birds. Overnight at the Ruaha River Camp, full
board.
Day 7&8: You
will have two game activities per day. The walking safaris
will be guided by an armed ranger and will be approximately
four hours. Overnight at Ruaha River Lodge.
Day 9: A
morning game drive in Ruaha can be very rewarding. This is
the best time to watch Silver backed jackals hunt. Ruaha
Nat. Park is also renowned for its large herds of buffalo.
Return to lodge for breakfast and thereafter depart for
Mbeya. Overnight in Hotel, bed and breakfast.
Day 10:
Katavi
National Park is a full days’ drive from Mbeya on a good
dirt road. Overnight at Foxes Camp, full board.
Day 11:
Game drives
with packed lunch provided, overnight at Camp or Lodge
Day 12: Walking
safaris in the morning accompanied by an armed ranger.
Overnight at Katavi National Park is the
most unspoiled and least visited park in Tanzania. The
buffalo herds here are regarded to be the biggest in the
country. Other animals include zebra, antelope, leopard,
crocodile, elephant, lion and hippo. The park is noted for
its Miombo woodland, vast floodplains an palm fringed Lake
Chala and Katuma River. Bird life is particularly rich
around Lake Chala
Day 13:
After
breakfast transfer by flight to Kigoma and depending on
weather conditions, immediate transfer to Gombe Stream
National Park Reserve. Afternoon game drive and
overnight in Gombe Tented Luxury Camp, full board.
Day 14& 15: Tracking
the chimpanzees and overnight at Gombe Tented Luxury
Camp, full board.
The tracking
usually starts early in the morning and this can vary from
half an hour to four hours depending on where the
chimpanzees will be located. As you track the chimpanzees in
the thick forest, you will pass through beautiful sceneries
and hear thrilling sounds of birds, insects, monkeys and
other inhabitants of the forest.
Day 16: Depart
after breakfast for Kigoma and on to your flight for
Zanzibar. Take the option in the evening and join the
Zanzibaris in the open-air seafood barbeque extravaganza
along the Harbour. Overnight at Emerson or Serena Hotel,
bed and breakfast.
Day 17:
Start the day
with a tour of Stone Town, This will include former slave
market, Sultans Palace, House of Wonders, Old Dispensary,
Old English Club, fish, meat and vegetable markets.
On route to the East coast. We will take an
excursion to Jonzani Forest. Drop off at Breezes Beach Club
for 4 nights HB)
The transfer to the east coast.
The richness of
its cultural heritage and the lure of the exotic spices make
Zanzibar one of the most sorts after holiday
destination. The main attraction of Zanzibar
is STONE TOWN with its winding alleys; white washed
old building, bustling bazaars, mosques, exotic architecture
and influences of different cultures. Stone Town derives its
name from the fact that it was the first stone town in
Zanzibar and probably in East Africa.
Jozani Forest is
the largest and only mature forest left in Zanzibar. The
forest is well known for it endemic Red Columbus monkeys.
Other animals include Bush babies, Hyraxes and Ader’s
duikers, a variety of butterflies and birds.
Day 21: Transfer
from Breezes to ZNZ apartments (booked through Breezes
Hotel) and flight ZNZ-DAR (flight booked through African
Safaris). Transfer into Dar for dayroom at Sea Cliff and
dinner, followed by transfer back to DAR apt for KLM flight
to AMS
Day 22: Arrival
in Amsterdam in the early morning.
